Antonio Robinet is a school located in Vioño (Piélagos), Cantabria. Antonio Robinet School is an Associate Teaching Work Cooperative, created in 1983.

The Antonio Robinet Cooperative School is characterized by the implementation of an original and innovative pedagogical experience. As for the educational levels offered by the school, free education is offered in: Preschool Education (2 to 6 years), Primary Education (6 to 12 years) and Compulsory Secondary Education (12 to 16 years).

Integrated Project of Educational Innovation

“La convivencia en jaque” is an Integrated Project of Educational Innovation of the Antonio Robinet School, prepared and presented by the faculty of the 2017/2018 course. The project was approved by the Ministry of Education for the 2018/2019 academic year.

The core of the project is the commitment and maximum involvement of all educational agents. Really, this project expects to achieve an integral vision of education, a greater degree of equity and educational quality and an improvement of processes and results.

What is intended?

“La convivencia en jaque” has the objective of promoting coexistence and the development of positive social skills. To achieve this objective, a series of measures that influence different areas of action are structured. Among others, the change in teaching methodology stands out above the others.

The change in teaching methodology involves the implementation of cooperative learning because if it is look forward to teach how to coexist better, methodologies that foster relationships, teamwork and leadership skills development will have to be applied. In addition, this change implies the introduction of learning based on projects and  methodologies that favor the relationship between equals and focus on the student as the center of the teaching-learning process.

Why is it relevant?

The Integrated Educational Innovation Project “La convivencia en jaque”, focused on changing the teaching methodology, is very important. It has great relevance because it is a project in which it is intended to objectively transmit to students the importance of collaborating, supporting and trusting each other to achieve an established objective. Besides, this project promotes autonomy in class, without imposing focus on the teacher but on the student. For this, cooperative learning, learning based on projects and service learning are the most appropriate means to achieve the change in teaching methodology.

Observing another Integrated Educational Innovation Project (Enseñar desde el cerebro que aprende) of the Apostolado del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús school, can be observed some differences. While “La convivencia en jaque” focuses on fostering cooperative and project learning, “Enseñar desde el cerebro que aprende” project focuses on educational neuroscience, which seeks to improve, develop and adjust the learning processes thanks to aspects combined psychology, cognitive neuroscience, medicine or sociology.

On the other hand, can be appreciated that the project “La convivencia en jaque” focuses on a teaching methodology based on group learning. However, “Enseñar desde el cerebro que aprende” project is aimed at a more individualistic approach in the student, where each one tries to improve their own qualities.

To conclude, can be seen that in both projects the student is sought to be the protagonist of the teaching-learning process.

My opinion

In my opinion, what the project “La convivencia en jaque” proposes is really necessary for today’s labor society. I think that reinforcing cooperative learning is very important for students towards the future incorporation into the adult and working world. The same way, it is worth stand out the promotion of learning based on projects because it removes the focus of the teacher and the student acquires an active position in the classroom. It is a significant project because it promotes student autonomy.

Which Integrated Educational Innovation Project do you prefer? “Enseñar desde el cerebro que aprende” or “La convivencia en jaque”? Why?

What would you like to promote in a general way in an Integrated Project of Educational Innovation of a school?

  • I like so much this project because I think that when the children work in groups they learn much more than when they work alone. Can you give me an example of one activity that they normally do?. Also, I think that if we mix the two projects that you compared we can achieve very good results because we could make groups based on the interests of all the people involved in them.
